Mindfulness Practice

Mindfulness is a capability we all possess and can cultivate. Yet so often, we spend our lives on autopilot as we go through the motions of everyday life without being fully present. Mindfulness practice offers us another pathway: the possibility of being fully awake to our experience and the ever-changing rhythms of life.

Mindfulness means deliberately paying attention and being fully aware of what is happening both inside ourselves -in our bodies, hearts and minds- and outside of ourselves in our environment. Mindfulness is present-moment awareness without judgement or blame.

Mindfulness is an active, engaged attention through which we notice our thoughts, feelings and body sensations with a respectful, receptive awareness. This, in turn, can transform our attention into a kind of loving awareness that allows us to step back from the constant stream of mental chatter and discover a world of fresh possibilities.

Mindful therapy brings this process of gentle curiosity to the unfolding of your experience in the therapy room.
As you bring mindful attention to your experience in the moment, you can develop greater psychological flexibility and resilience. When you leave the therapy room, you might notice yourself observing your experiences with greater curiosity as you ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?” You will cultivate a wiser relationship to all your experiences.

As part of your care, I will happily assist you by offering support and instruction in bringing the benefits of this profound practice of personal change, healing and liberation to your life. This can include teaching you how to practice traditional meditation or it can mean helping you develop your own personalized grounding and stabilization practices that will support you in staying connected to your yourself, your loved ones, your community and the larger world.
